Research shows that 65% of people make getting fit and losing weight a new years resolution yet 83% give up before the years out. The ludicrous thing is the 65% who made it a resolution this year also made it one last year, the year before that and probably for many years before that.

We have all heard the theory that if something isn’t working then you try something different yet for some reason when it comes to losing weight many of us just keep trying failed diet after failed diet convincing ourselves that this one will be different. If you think you are a failure because you can’t stick to your diet then here is a newsflash; Diets by their very nature do not work.

One of the main reasons they don’t work is because the minute you embark on a diet you set off a host of survival mechanisms that protect you from wasting away. These physiological reactions are very hard to ignore as you are fighting against your own body’s survival mechanisms. Every diet must end in an equal and opposite binge. Those of you who have tried dieting are very familiar with this pattern of weight loss followed by weight gain ending sometimes weighing more than what you were when you started.

What is the solution? Learn a way of natural eating that allows your own inner wisdom to guide you to a healthy desirable weight that is easy to get to and effortless to maintain. In other words give up dieting. No more counting calories or looking for the next diet that promises to deliver results that up until now have eluded you. We have been eluded into thinking that some expert outside of us has the answers. Become the expert of your own body. Re-learn to trust your body, as it is always there to guide you if you will listen.
