EDITION 7 - Spring 2006

EDITION 7 -Spring 2006

I once heard a very wise man say, that the most important thing we ever learn to do and don’t do very well, is breath. Although this is true.

  • It is something that adults totally forget to do all together.
  • It is something that will support us to move away from feeling depressed!
  • It is something that uses almost as many muscles to do, as having sex.
  • It is something that will release more positive healthy endorphins in our body in the shortest possible time than any other activity can!

So what am I referring too?

Laughing .......

The truth is that laughing is one of the healthiest possible activities you can take part in. Yet, the exercise I am going to give you can be completed in as little as thirty seconds a day.

What, thirty seconds a day can change your life……!

“By the time a child reaches pre-school, he or she will laugh about 300 times a day. Adults laugh an average of 17 times a day.”

                                                                                                “Science of Laughter” Discovery Health

Those of you that know me, know that over the last twenty plus years I have literally spent many of hundreds of thousands of dollars on Personal Growth work.

In this time, one simple technique that I learnt was at an Anthony Robbins Seminar in 1994, that incidentally cost me $30,000 to attend. Yet, you can have it for FREE, yes free. But, be warned!………. This tool is only effective if you apply it, so, the question is will you???

The technique I am about to share with you is one of that absolute gem’s that I still occasionally apply personally today! It’s a great way to start your day.

Great for “Control Freaks” and “Perfectionists” that take live too seriously.

When you wake up in the morning, maybe when you have time by yourself. Take thirty seconds to let your-self really let go. LAUGH

Laugh like there was no tomorrow; let it all hang out for thirty seconds.

BELLY LAUGH……………! No half measures!

See your mind cannot tell the difference between pretending to laugh and actual laughing. That is why you may have heard people say, fake it till you make it! Which means that faking laughter has the same emotional effects as a real belly laughing. What you will also find, is on applying this for seven days straight, that you will begin to laugh at other times about little things, that you normally might not.

The truth is we really do not need to have something to laugh at?

Can you remember when you were a kid absolutely cracking up laughing, where you eventually got to the point where the only thing that you were laughing about was the fact that you were laughing?

Apply this, it costs nothing and there are no negative side affects to laugh. So, you have nothing to loose. GO FOR IT!

Other benefits of laughing:

Emotional Health

  • Humour helps us replace distressing emotions with pleasurable feelings. You cannot feel angry, depressed, anxious, guilty, or resentful and experience humour at the same time.

Cellular Health

  • It also increases the level of health-enhancing hormones like endorphins, and neurotransmitters. Laughter increases the number of antibody-producing cells and enhances the effectiveness of T cells. All this means a stronger immune system, as well as fewer physical effects of stress and encourages healing.

Physical Health

  • Laughter gives our bodies a good workout. Laughter can be a great workout for your diaphragm, abdominal, respiratory, facial, leg, and back muscles. It massages abdominal organs, tones intestinal functioning, and strengthens the muscles that hold the abdominal organs in place. Not only does laughter give your midsection a workout, it can benefit digestion and absorption functioning as well. It is estimated that hearty laughter can burn calories equivalent to several minutes on the rowing machine or the exercise bike.
