Discover the joy of taking personal    responsibility!     Welcome to the April/May
2009 Newsletter.
This Newsletter will be  sent every SECOND month for 2009.

I don't know about you but life seems to be getting busier. Personal growth is something in my life I hve always been passionate about and I hope I always will. Over the years however I have learnt that practical tools are where it is at if I'm to continue to grow into the life I desire for myself. I asked Phil if I could write this newsletter as I want to share what has become the most practical tool in my own journey.

As we move through our lives every feeling we have is an opportunity to learn something about ourselves, but only if we take responsibilty for ourselves and how we operate in the world. If you've seen the secret you are familiar with the concept that we create our own destiny. That every thought & feeling we have puts a vibration out into the universe and that this is indeed the reality we create for ourselves.

Generally we are quite happy to agree with this concept and often focus on those things we do want to create- the new home, the car, the relationship etc. That is until we percieve that someone does something that dissapoints us, we don't agree with, hurts our feelings or betrays us, then its easy to fall into the blame game. Rather than take responsibilty for our feelings and look at our reaction to the situation it is much easier to blame another for our feelings in the given situation. A great example of this is in our intimate relationships. Your partner of 5 years has left you for another and it stirs up a host of feelings. It is important to feel whatever you experience wether it be hurt, anger, betrayal, sadness etc. It is also important to express those feelings appropriately. But then we have choice. We can either stay stuck in those feelings and become somewhat of a victim to the situation, and if we choose this it is easy to find allies to support how we feel, or we can take personal responsibilty for our feelings which is a far more empowering choice, and much more self honouring.

We can use our feelings as a guide to learn more about ourselves. By asking the right questions you can uncover quite a bit about your belief system and how you operate in the world. See below in tips of the month for examples of empowering questions to ask yourself. Letter writing is another powerful tool for uncovering the truth behind how you may be feeling. See our website for tips on how use letter writing effectively. And remember these tools can be used for any situation in your life where you may be experiencing uncomfortable feelings that if you explore will lead you to greater freedom. I hope this can support you as you continue on your own journey.

Your Personal Empowerment Tip

Empowering questions to ask yourself when you are experiencing uncomfortable feelings:

  • Have I  felt this way before in my life. Perhaps a past relationship breakup. If so when and what were the circumstances?
  • Is this a recurring pattern for me. What is it I believe about life that may be contributing to me creating this reality again?
  • How long do I choose to stay stuck in these emotions?
  • Have I taken this personally?
Peace comes not from the absence of conflict, but the ability to deal with it.                                                                                                             -Phil McKewin
